SAP Ariba, now folded into what SAP calls its Business Network, runs more than a trillion dollars in transactions globally each year. And ask what happens when an invoice gets stuck, a missing document, a disputed line item, an approval sitting untouched. Does the system tell you what's wrong and why, or does the invoice just quietly vanish from the workflow until someone notices weeks later? Get a straight answer on deployment timeline too, and what it actually requires from your IT team and from your customers, since "no IT setup" means different things to different vendors.

The real test isn't how a tool handles the easy invoices, the clean ones that would've gotten paid on time no matter what. It's whether it handles the annoying stuff: the missing W-9, the mismatched date format, the portal that rejects your file for reasons nobody can quite explain. That's where the time actually gets lost, and that's where a good tool earns its keep.
